Great publication from V&A

This book is a new (2012) publication from V&A Publishing. Therefore, it covers mostly Renaissance pieces included in the Victoria & Albert Museum collection. It is a great and beautiful book. The text being written by Elisa P. Sani, former Assistant Curator of Ceramics and Glass at the V&A, it provides the best expert knowledge that can be expected from such a renowned institution. The book is organized into sections about techniques, style, and use of maiolica, with subsections covering tableware, special pieces, inkstands, pharmacy containers, floor pavements, and plaques. The photographs are plentiful and beautiful, some published for the first time. Very interesting information is also included about Cipriano Piccolpasso, who wrote "The Three Books of the Potter's Art" in the 1500s, with translated portions of the Italian original text, and illustrations. This is a great reference for artists and ceramic enthusiasts. Highly recommended.
